‘Workhorse’ Alec Marsh signs one-year contract with Coventry Blaze
Coventry Blaze head coach Danny Stewart has hailed the arrival of American forward Alec Marsh, praising the 25-year-old’s work ethic after he became the first new player to sign for the Skydome Arena outfit.
“Alec came highly recommended from Guy Gadowsky at Penn State,” Stewart explained.
“He’s a workhorse that can play multiple positions upfront and up and down the line-up. In the short time he’s played at the pro level, he’s been able to produce and be an important part of his team’s success.
“You will see a guy that plays hard both ways, and will put his body on the line by playing in hard areas.”
Marsh, who will wear #23 for the Blaze in 2021/22, arrives in Elite League after spending two seasons split between the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) and the ECHL.
In 16 ECHL appearances, the 5’11” forward has registered nine points (seven goals, two assists) for the Worcester Railers, South Carolina Stingrays, and Florida Everblades.
Marsh has also put up 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) in the SPHL with the Fayetteville Marksmen and Pensacola Ice Flyers.
Before entering the professional ranks, Marsh spent four years within Penn State University’s NCAA programme, make 132 appearances and tallying 54 points (22 goals, 32 assists) while completing a degree in Criminology. In 2017, the New Jersey native helped Penn State win its first Big Ten Tournament (B1G) title.
Marsh also enjoyed three seasons in the prestigious United States Hockey League (USHL), appearing in 147 games and amassing 72 points (28 goals, 44 assists) for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Sioux Falls Stampede, and Fargo Force.
