BREAKING: Warwick’s Director of Press was group chat investigating officer

The University’s Director of Press served as investigating officer for the initial group chat investigation which saw 11 students suspended in May, and five banned from campus a month later.

The revelation was revealed exclusively on the Victoria Derbyshire Show this morning, with one of the complainants arguing that it represented a “conflict of interest” for the University.

On the show one of the two female students who complained to the University also alleged that she was asked “aggressive questions” about her sexual history with the men being investigated, and gave details of the messages reported by The Boar in May.

When contacted for comment by The Boar, the University responded to confirm that the Director of Press was the investigating officer, adding only: “The University of Warwick stands by the investigation.”

This story will be updated as it develops.
