BREAKING: All motions pass in Autumn All Student Vote

All five of the motions in Warwick Student Union’s Autumn All Student Vote (ASV) passed. They included motions calling for support of upcoming UCU strikes, free parking, and opposition to the end of self-certification.

1214 students voted on the motions, casting 5511 votes in total.

The first motion, asking students for their view on the upcoming UCU strikes at universities across the UK,  saw 862 support the strikes, 238 vote against and 82 abstain.

912 students voted to support the SU’s proposed measures to mitigate the impacts of the strikes. 79 voted against while 122 abstained.

The third motion called for parking charges to be scrapped for select students and staff for the next 12 months. An overwhelming 860 students approved this measure, with 116 dissenting and 96 abstaining.

A larger share, 917 students, backed the fourth motion calling for the SU to oppose all efforts to end the practice of self-certification. 82 students voted against the motion and another 82 abstained.

Finally, the fifth motion, which asked students to approve the SU’s list of affiliations, passed easily again with 728 votes for, 60 against and 273 abstentions.
