New high-end student accommodation complex opens in Canley

A new student accommodation complex, boasting more than 750 studio apartments, has opened in Coventry.

Vita Student Cannon Park is located on Warwick Road, opposite the Cannon Park shopping centre, and caters for both University of Warwick and Coventry University students.

It offers ensuite studio apartments offering ‘all-in’ student living from £225 per week, a price that includes bills, a residents’ gym, private dining rooms, a cinema, and a space to meet friends, study, and work.

It also includes housekeeping and a roster of events designed to improve student wellbeing and maximise studying.

There is also a basketball court designed by the acclaimed graffiti artist Hazard One – she has been recognised as one of the top five female graffiti artists in the UK, and the top 25 female street artists worldwide.

The new Vita Student complex has biodiversity as a focus – the exterior features living walls which create habitats for birds and bees. In total, 4,700 sq m of habitat has been created on the site.

The building received planning consent in November 2019 and construction began in October 2020 with a view to completing the building in time for the 2022/23 academic year.

In 2020, Coventry University’s head of accommodation called for more purpose-built housing to be built in the city in order to satisfy demand as student numbers rose.

Max Bielby, chief operating officer for Vita Student, said: “We are delighted to officially open the doors of Vita Student Cannon Park and with it deliver a world class standard of living for students. Interest has exceeded expectations with the building fully booked for the new academic year and we’re excited to welcome these students in and support them through the most important time of their life, helping them to ‘begin big’.”

After opening this accommodation complex, Vita Student intends to develop a second site in Birmingham. Development on the accommodation, to be located on Gough Street, is scheduled to begin next month and to complete in 2025.
