A new CeX is among the shops which have been announced for the Arena Shopping Park in Coventry city centre.
According to the retailer’s website, the CeX branch will open in Mall Unit 12, which is next to the Coventry Building Society and has been advertised as up for let.
No official date has been given for when the CeX will open and the announcement on its website simply states that the opening details are “coming soon”.
The store will be the third Coventry location – CeX already has two stores, one in Hertford Street in the city centre and another in the Cannon Park Shopping Centre.
This news comes shortly after it was announced that Starbucks has submitted plans to open a new coffee shop and drive-through at the Shopping Centre.
If the plans are given the go-ahead, the new coffee chain will be housed in the former Pizza Hut restaurant which closed permanently last month.
An application has also been made for a drive-through lane and part of the existing building and 27 car parking spaces will be removed to facilitate its construction.
It would see Starbucks return to the Arena Shopping Park for the first time since 2020 when the branch above New Look closed.
A decision on the plans will be made by Coventry City Council on 23 November – if it is approved, the new store will open from 5:00 until midnight.
A Starbucks company spokesman said: “We are always looking for new locations and opportunities to bring the Starbucks Experience to customers in the UK, but at this time we have no updates to share about plans in Coventry.”
It was also announced that the Tesco Petrol Station at the shopping area reopened at the start of the month – it had been closed for two months following essential maintenance works.
