First year student dies at Bluebell accommodation

A first-year Computer Science student died on Monday evening, June 6, in his Bluebell accommodation, according to the Tab.

His Warwick home department, Computer Science, released a statement: “We’re very sorry to inform you that the University has been made aware of the sad death of Sam Whitaker, one of our first year MEng Computer Science students, last night.

“This is very sad news, and may come as a shock especially to those who knew Sam.”

On Monday evening, a helicopter landed at the scene before taking off shortly after 8:00pm. Multiple police cars were spotted, as well as a medical vehicle. Blue police tape was seen around the Bluebell building.

Ambulances were also seen along with paramedics. The Community Safety Team were also at the site.

Reportedly, residents were not allowed to leave their building, or enter it.
