Rootes ranked as sixth-best student accommodation in the UK

Rootes has been ranked as the sixth-best student accommodation block in the UK.

The ranking was carried out by student help website Student Hut. The rankings were based upon student reviews of all accommodation blocks across the UK.

The best-ranked accommodation was Falkner Eggington at Loughborough University. Student reviews mentioned the accommodation’s “brilliant value for money” and that it “provides lots of opportunites” thanks to being run by a “student committee”.

Peel Park Quarter at the University of Salford was ranked as the second-best, and Lafrowda at Exeter University was put in third place.

Accommodation blocks from the London School of Economics, Birmingham and Swansea Universities also made the list.

Rootes was praised for its “perfect” location as it is only “2 to 3 minutes away from the Student’s Union and the Piazza”.

Rootes is the largest accommodation on campus, and one of the cheapest with rooms at £100 per week.

Famed for being the most social accommodation on campus, students living in Rootes have paid over £12,000 in fines in the four academic years leading up to 2018/19. The University charged students with £19,000 in behavioural fines across all accommodation blocks in the 2018/19 academic year.

Students in all on-campus accommodation were given the option to release themselves from their contracts for Term 3 due to COVID-19.
