Pure Gym coming to Leamington Spa in late October

Pure Gym will be opening a new branch in Leamington Spa in late October this year, to be located on Queensway Trading Estate next to Sapphire Drive.

The 24-hour gym will have “over two floors”, free parking and other benefits. Monthly memberships start at £19.99 but are on a pre-opening offer now for £10.99, with a £15 joining fee.

Pure Gym told The Boar: “All of our student deals are handled through UNiDAYS with our current offer is that you can get up to 30% off our fixed term memberships, these wouldn’t be available to purchase until he club opens, but if you keep an eye out you’ll be able to get to signed up to one of the great offers.”

Other gyms in South Leamington include Bizz Fitness and The Workout Mill, which charge £19.95 and £25 a month respectively.

Both are frequented by University of Warwick students living in Leamington. A 12-month gym membership at the Sports and Wellness hub costs £22 a month, having increased since last year.

One third-year student said the news was “brilliant”, and that he would sign up “three months after opening” when “most members stop going to the gym” in order to “actually get a bench at a reasonable time.”

“I’m so glad Bizz is finally getting the competition it deserves,” a second-year student said. “I’ve been looking for an alternative ever since I joined them, but the Sports Hub is simply unaffordable for students.”

Olli Banks, a Politics student entering his final year added: “I think it’s great to see a new gym in Leamington because around the New Year period you couldn’t even get on machines in my gym, never mind a bench.

“However, the price isn’t much better than The Workout Mill and the guys in there are very welcoming so you won’t see me switching.”

The health club chain also has three branches in Coventry, located at the Skydome, Warwickshire Shopping Park and on Bishop Street.

The exact opening date for the Leamington Pure Gym branch is to be confirmed.
