UPDATED: Voting has opened in SU officer elections

UPDATED: Due to issues with the real-time turnout statistics, the first set of data reported was incorrect. The article has now been changed to reflect that.

Voting opened at 9am this morning (Wednesday 2 March) for the Warwick Students’ Union (SU) sabbatical officer elections.

This is the first year that real-time turnout data is being released by the SU, which you can see for yourself here.

In just 30 minutes from the polls opening, over 300 people had voted for their next sabbatical officers: at time of writing, 10am, the turnout was 371.

There was initially an error with the the number of votes cast being reported instead of the number of voters, leading to a report of over 1000 voters by just 9:30am.

The turn-out data – which is being used for the first time – has now been changed to reflect the number of individual voters.

By 11:45am, over 1000 individual students had voted.

So far, the greatest turnout is from students in the Faculty of Arts, with 8.1% of the 3068 students belonging to it having voted by 11:45am.

Sciences come second, with 4.5% of their 8341 students. Social Sciences third, with 2.9% – however, they also have by far the greatest number of students, with 12664.

History students have also voted the most so far, 12.7% of their 924 intake. Politics comes second, with 9.9% of 805.

There was, however, seemingly a mistake made on the webpage, as only ‘male’ student turnout was being tracked for the first hour and a half.

‘Female’ student tracking has now been added, alongside ‘non-binary and non-defined’.

If you haven’t voted yet, you can do so here.

This page will be updated throughout the day to reflect increase in statistics.
