Labrinth and Zane Lowe for Summer Party

Labrinth, Zane Lowe and Rudimental will headline this year’s Summer Party, Warwick SU has announced.

King Charles, Mikill Pane, By the Rivers, Coves and Cowboy will also take to the main stage at the event on Sunday 23 June.

The SU-dubbed ‘Secret Stage’ will host DJs from popular Leamington club nights Nana’s Palace and Jackers Delight as well as Lucy-Anne Sale, Joseph Worrall, Gaz Openshaw, Harvey Francis, Jordan Charles, Rootless and Sophie Warren.

Nick Swain, president of Warwick SU, described the line-up as the “strongest yet”.

He said: “To have the current UK number 1 artists (Rudimental) at the event as we announce it today makes it even better.

“Also, it’s taking place on my birthday this year, so I’m going to have a brilliant day!”

Battle of the Bands winners Nurse Joy will also perform on the main stage.

The annual event sports a fun-fair and inflatables. An afterparty will take place in the Copper Rooms.

Mikill Pane, who has worked with Ed Sheeran and Example, will be interviewed by the Boar for next week’s newspaper.

Warwick SU also announced today that this year’s Graduation Ball will have a ‘Roaring Twenties’ theme. For £69, students graduating this year will receive a five course meal, entertainment and travel there and back from the Hilton in Birmingham

Tickets for the two events are now on sale, with Sports Ball tickets launching on May 3.

The cost of last year’s Summer Party was questioned by students with headliners including Noah & The Whale, Ms Dynamite, Stooshe and Jakwob.

The event also reportedly failed to make a profit after bad weather and the England vs Italy Euro 2012 quarter-final match which coincided with the day alienated punters.
