Student killed in Leamington

Police are appealing for witnesses after a Warwick student was hit and killed by a taxi outside Leamington in the early hours of Friday morning.

The incident took place at approximately 3:50AM on Kenilworth Road.

IMG_3916A damaged car was found at the scene. The victim was an 18-year-old man.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “A man was found between the road’s junctions with Old Milverton Lane and Northumberland Road. Unfortunately, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Police urge anyone who saw the incident itself or the man/vehicle before the incident to call 01926 415415.

Warwick Students’ Union (SU) have issued a statement: “We were shocked and saddened to hear this tragic news here at the SU, and would like to send our deepest condolences to his friends and family.”

Affected students were also advised to make use of the range of counselling services offered by both the SU and the University.
