Good night and good luck

It has been a long old year. Flicking through the pages of the 2009/10 issues of the _Boar_, it is possible to see a wide array of goings-on which have shaped campus life. Who could forget the anticipation of the Union South opening, an impatience reserved not so much for the new building but for the removal of the ugly scaffolding on the Piazza? Well, we seem to have gone round in a circle, because once again the reviled scaffolding is back.

There was One World Week, which many people decided was unethical due to its links with Barclays. Issac Newton Acquah was sacked as Communications Officer, and then reinstated with the help of a few thousand signatures. Of course, there was also the small matter of the General Election, which not only changed the political landscape of Britain, but also knocked out the local Leamington MP James Plaskitt who had served for 13 years.

The _Boar_ too has changed this year with a redesign and stronger online presence; for instance, our live blogs for the Union and general elections attracted 2,100 people.

This newspaper would not exist without your help. Hundreds of you have written, edited, taken photographs, drawn illustrations and sold advertising to make the publication you are reading possible. If you are coming back next year and want to get involved, please do contact us.

For those leaving who have contributed to the _Boar_, we thank you for your hard work. Hopefully you have enjoyed the experience, and the skills you have developed will help you in your career.

We have watched you, dear reader, change throughout the year, whether it be from a hesitant fresher to a savvy fully-fledged student, or a world-weary third year to a nervous graduate taking those first tentative steps towards ‘real life’.

This term has been the toughest of the year, with our noses pressed against the desk, be it writing essays or trying to retain books of information. For those who have finished their exams, congratulations for getting through them all and good luck in your results. For those who have not finished, or even started (and believe us, there are people producing this issue who are in that position), best wishes for the next few weeks.

Whatever your situation, whether you are the dire position of having to stay up all night reading Hobbes, or whether you are anticipating another night out on the piss, then make sure you have an amazing summer. For some, it is farewell; for others it is only au revoir.
