Letters: Rap as music

Dear Sir,

I think Caitlin Allen must have spent too much time in France to think that Notorious B.I.G.’s “raps mean nothing at all.” The man, may he rest in peace, was one of the greatest story tellers of our time.

From Juicy I quote:

> We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us
No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us
Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip champagne when we thirst-ay
Uh, damn right I like the life I live
‘Cause I went from negative to positive
And it’s all…

> (It’s all good)

Surely she can open her mind a little bit and realize that rap is a legitimate genre, and dismissing it as meaningless is short-sighted, at best.

Yours faithfully,

Remy Baracco
