Goose rescued from frozen campus lake

On Friday 15th January, an injured goose was rescued from a frozen lake on campus.

RSPCA officers and the fire brigade were called to the scene. Warwick security officer Tel Smith commented that “the scene for the rescue was really quite spectacular.” Emergency services travelled across the lake using an “inflatable ladder-type implement” to reach the bird.

The bird had suffered an injury to its leg, apparently the human equivalent of a sprain, and received care for this at an RSPCA centre. The goose was released after five days of treatment and then reunited with its partner on the lake.
