Student car-share scheme launches

After months of waiting, ‘Take A Mate’ – Warwick’s student car share service has finally launched. The scheme – which has been co-developed by the University and the Students’ Union – offers a formal service in which students can find other students to share their car journey to University with.

But the idea is not just for car drivers. Those keen on cycling and walking are also included, with two other options named BikeBUDi and WalkBUDi respectively. This system works in the same way as the carshare scheme, listing all potential cycling and walking matches who wish to share their journeys to campus with fellow enthusiasts.

After registering details of your journey, the BUDi system will supply a list of potential matches who are available to contact in order to begin a travel relationship.

According the the University, ‘Take a Mate is free to join, completely secure, and is available to all Warwick students with a University of Warwick email address.’
