Student wins gold and laptop

A Warwick student won gold at a national Japanese speech contest.

Bryan Woon, a finalist studying Industrial Economics, won with his speech “Is the Japanese salaryman fast becoming a relic of the past?” This was given, as were the questions asked afterwards, in Japanese. As the first prize winner Woon was presented with a certificate and a laptop to bring home.

Woon is taking Japanese 4 at the Language Centre as a option course and has previously entered in similar Japanese speech competitions. The Language Centre and his Japanese teacher Katsuko Nagata congratulated Woon on this achievement. Nagata said it reflected his hard work and passion for Japanese.
