Warwick rises again in The Times’ UK University rankings
The University of Warwick has climbed to seventh place in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027, published 18 September.
The rise continues last year’s momentum, when Warwick moved from ninth to eighth, and marks its highest spot since 2017. The guide ranks 130 UK universities across measures including degree outcomes, student experience, graduate employment prospects, and continuation rates.
Warwick was also named Runner-up University of the Year for Graduate Employment, narrowly missing out to Imperial College London.
The National Student Survey found that nearly nine in 10 would recommend Warwick to future students
The University placed sixth in the UK for graduate prospects, with 83.4% of students entering highly skilled work or further study within 15 months of graduating, though this is slightly down from 86.4% in last year’s guide.
Its strong performance in this category arrives against the backdrop of a rocky graduate job market, with The Times reporting elsewhere that graduate job vacancies have fallen for the fifth year in a row.
Warwick also scored strongly on degree outcomes, with 87.8% of students awarded Firsts or 2:1s. On student satisfaction, among the date which feeds into the guide’s overall score, the National Student Survey found that nearly nine in 10 would recommend Warwick to future students.
To achieve year-on-year success reflects the world-leading research and transformative teaching delivered by everyone in the Warwick community
Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor of Warwick University
The University did surrender its 2026 title of Midlands University of the Year to neighbouring Birmingham. Warwick took the runner-up position.
Other areas for improvement include the guide’s People and Planet category, where it placed 44th, and Social Inclusion, where it came 108th of the 130 universities ranked.
Reflecting on the results, Vice-Chancellor Stuart Croft said: “To achieve year-on-year success in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide reflects the world-leading research and transformative teaching delivered by everyone in the Warwick community.
“As we prepare to welcome a new cohort of talented students, these results show that Warwick is an outstanding university. We are recognised for preparing young people for their next step – providing the critical thinking that students deserve, the skills that employers want, and the talent that the country needs.”
Warwick has held a place in the guide’s top 10 every year since it has been published.
