New business bring fresh options to Warwick students
Students retuning to the University of Warwick this year are set to be greeted by several new businesses across Coventry, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth, with many businesses having opened over the summer break.

SoBe Burger brought Miami-inspired smash burgers to Leamington Spa when it opened in August. The brand’s first residency opened in London in 2018, with it now having 19 dine-in locations and over 200 delivery kitchens nation-wide. Known for its bold flavours, large menu, and casual atmosphere, the new branch is expected to be enjoyed by university students.
The redeveloped Abbey Fields Swimming Pool and its cafe opened in Kenilworth in July. With the original venue having opened in 1896, the latest redevelopment replaces the district lido with a modern indoor complex that features indoor pools, changing facilities, an outdoor sun terrace and a conservatory-style cafe that overlooks the nearby park.
Specialising in freshly roasted house blends and single-origin coffees, Caffeine Project is an independent business that opened its first Leamington Spa location in July. The cafe is likely to become a go-to for students looking to catch up with friends.
This new pottery painting cafe in Leamington Spa, named Glaze, is a great option for those looking for a relaxed activity to do with their friends. With an opening planned at the of the end of September, right as the University of Warwick’s new term which, Glaze with offer students the opportunity to get creative while enjoying food and drink from its in-store cafe.
Dolce Desserts is a 38-seat venue in Coventry that opened in June. Serving waffles, cheesecake, gelato and milkshakes, the venue is set to be a favourite among students. With its flagship store in Birmingham, the business is already established in the Midlands

After first coming to the UK in 2021, Popeyes has made its way to Coventry city centre. In July, the American fried chicken chain opened a store just a 15-minute walk from the city’s main train station. It offers students who are looking for a quick bite to eat with affordable spiced fried chicken and is located in Broadgate.
COV Store
Coventry City Football Club has opened its new COV Store at the CBS Arena, replacing the previous Coventry City Superstore and its West Orchards Shopping Centre outlet. The 15,000 square foot space includes a Race Experience reaturing racing simulators developed with the Haas Formula Onc team, and The Story, an exhibition space telling the club’s history that has opened with an exhibit on its route back to the Premier League. Stocking official club merchandise, accessories, and the team’s match kits, the shop is set to be enjoyed by local football fans.
NEVAEH Brunch & Café
NEVAEH Brunch & Café has already established itself as a trendy addition to Coventry after opening in June. It’s a 10-minute drive from Coventry City centre and offers a selection of food and drinks.
