Living in style: Here’s what to wear for Olivia Rodrigo’s next concert
Rodrigo’s you look pretty sad for a girl so in love has already overtaken the charts, crowned as 2026’s most streamed album in a single day by a female artist on Spotify.
The hype is well deserved: there is something for everyone in this album that is shaped by emotional contradiction, both somehow retaining the edginess that characterised Guts while being more self-consciously experimental. Whether it is catchy pop to power ballad or punk rock, Olivia channels them all with her latest release, the complexity of which sets big expectations for the survivors of the Ticketmaster war and their outfits to the upcoming concerts.
We should embody Rodrigo’s carefully crafted duality through our fashion
You want to aim for a look that manifests the bittersweet nature of the album. Rather than leaning purely into pop-punk, with plaid skirts, baby tees, big boots and heart sunglasses, or the baby-doll romance trialled in the ‘drop-dead’ music video, we should embody Rodrigo’s carefully crafted duality through our fashion. We can acknowledge the emotional turmoil of you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love by not dressing for purely for the honeymoon phase of a romance or the crushing self-doubt that comes after heartbreak but combining the two. This is exemplified in the music video of ‘stupid song’, where Olivia rocks a casual hoodie while the backup dancers twirl behind her in pink ballerina dresses. In this same way, I would suggest adding Guts-core accessories to a pink and white outfit, or ribbons and tiaras to a leather jacket.
Similarly to how the Guts tour could be characterised by ‘Heathers’ looking skirts and glittery tops, there are some specific items that I would recommend for the pop-princess vibe of this new album to be reflected in your own outfit. If your base style is grunge, think short skirts, chunky belts, graphic or baby tees to centre the outfit, complimented by a bold winged eyeliner. Alternatively, if your outfit is leaning more towards the girly chic aesthetic, you could consider a short, ruffled dress or a layered tulle skirt.
If you can’t decide what to do with your look, maybe dress after the vibe of your favourite song on the album
Once you have got the clothes secured, combine the aesthetics with accessories. The easiest way to do this is to think if Jade West from Victorious were to give Glinda from Wicked fashion advice or vice versa. (Okay, maybe not the easiest but that’s where my mind went). It could be a ruffled skirt complimented with dramatic black sunglasses and boots, or a leather skirt with a princess tiara and soft pink shoes such as ballet pumps. Whichever way your outfit is leaning, ribbons in your hair or attached to your shoes would be extremely cute. I personally also am going to have glitter tattoos on every free spot on my arms.
The album cover seems to hint that Olivia may be rocking a softer look for 2027’s concert than 2024’s, with the soft pastels providing a contrast to the previous deep purple. So if your look will only feature one of the aesthetics, I would lean towards this one.
You don’t have to spend much: chances are that you have at least a few of the items mentioned somewhere in the wardrobe. Amazon can provide the absolute essentials of a cheap tiara or feather boa, and the rest of the outfit can be thought of as customisable. If you can’t decide what to do with your look, maybe dress after the vibe of your favourite song on the album – Jade for ‘my way’, Glinda for ‘honeybee’.
Whatever you wear, based off of the album this concert is looking up to be Rodrigo’s best one yet. Or at least it had better be, as I didn’t get tickets for either of the others…
