Mystical, whimsical, and mesmerising, a night with Warwick LINE’s Fashion and Editorial Society is a must for the University of Warwick’s creative minds.

Despite the delayed start for their annual show, coined “Echoes of the Universe” this year, the evening was well worth the wait. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by LINE’S wonderful Co-President, Krisztina.
Treated to our VIP gift bags – our very own LINE lighters now in hand – we set to a quick backstage check. After a long day of rehearsals, the small space was filled with models eating their dinner, getting last-minute make-up checks, and designers fiddling with their creations. Those involved in the production of the show were found bustling in conversation with friends. The energy was electric with excitement entwined with nerves. The fashion ensemble was seemingly too preoccupied to comment before the show. The air was charged with anticipation for what’s to come.
Having attended last year, we found this year’s theme, “Realms”, fostered greater creativity and better cohesive designs
Having experienced the rush of backstage, we were shown to our front-row seats. Here, we had plenty of time to sift through the fashion show’s visionary brochure. The brochure itself was complementary to the aesthetics of the night. The dark background against vibrant sketches made the previews of the designs pop. Each page offered a glimpse into the individual realms that would soon come to life on the runway.
The minimal set design, featuring delicate handmade tissue flowers and torn-up maps, allowed the models to take centre stage. Each model held themselves professionally and showcased the designs with effortless elegance.

Having attended last year, we found this year’s theme, “Realms”, fostered greater creativity and better cohesive designs. Every detail felt intentionally inspired by the nature of its Realm with each piece telling a story that extended beyond the runway.
Throughout the show, we were guided by the Explorer, modelled by Heather Giam. With her slow, deliberate walk, she set a tone of curiosity and discovery, leading us through a journey across the realms in the following order: Glacial, Savannah, Sandstorm, Rainforest, Oceanic, Mangroves, Caves, Volcanic, and Cosmic. The crowd were quick to get comfortable, their energy palpable.
Our journey began in the Glacial realm – icy, focused, and charged with crisp intensity. From there, we entered the Savannah, where tropical warmth and mystery unfolded in an expansive landscape. The energy shifted as we moved into the Sandstorm realm, a dance of shifting textures and fierce motions. Next, we stepped into the luscious and wet Rainforest, its dense atmosphere pulsating like nature’s heartbeat. This was followed by the Oceanic realm, with its fluid and seamless boundlessness. The journey continued into the Mangroves, with designs showcasing the rooted land and water intertwined.
As the show dimmed, we descended into the hidden depths of the Caves, a realm of sharp edges and shadowed mystery. From there, the intensity erupted for the Volcanic realm; a fiery, explosive spectacle exuding molten passion. Finally, our journey reached its celestial peak in the ethereal Cosmic realm with its eccentric designs and luminous accessories. Sparkles and luminescence illuminated the stage, creating a breathtaking, otherworldly finale.
Camille Chariot-Vickers’ sumptuous velvet dress from the Volcanic realm and Amal Farooq Malik’s intricately detailed Forest bag were instant favourites
Applause and cheers filled the room, with friends calling out to the models. The audience didn’t just spectate, they were envisioning themselves in the designs. Words like “tea” and “serving” rippled through the space, punctuated by frequent gasps of admiration. “I could hear chanting from all sides and cheers, that kind of atmosphere makes all the difference,” shared Giulia, LINE’s previous designer and Co-President.
Some standout pieces had the crowd enthralled. Camille Chariot-Vickers’ sumptuous velvet dress from the Volcanic realm and Amal Farooq Malik’s intricately detailed Forest bag were instant favourites. With everyone voicing to own both pieces, it was easy to imagine either design becoming a coveted statement piece.
To find out more about the creative intent behind “Echoes of the Universe”, The Boar interviewed Kira Stiffler, LINE’s current Head of Fashion Show.

The Boar: What was the vision for the fashion show, did it stay cohesive from the start of the creative process till its execution?
Kira: “There were some bumps in the creative process along the way. We came up with the general outline of the theme in our first brainstorming session and mostly stuck to it throughout all the planning stages. The majority of the difficulties that arrived were the development of the Explorer. There were many questions which took forever to answer: how would she interact with the models (realms), how would she communicate her role to the audience, how could we visually display a growth/evolution in her character through experiencing the realms? Ultimately, we decided that she would be a passive viewer, curious by her surroundings, but not disruptive to the environment around her.”

The Boar: What inspired this theme of different Realms?
Kira: “We wanted to explore our world through the many different environments it has to offer. In our first brainstorming session, we came up with a list of realms that was much longer than our final nine. We then eliminated them based on their similarity to one another and chose the ones we thought would bring more life to the show. For example, we eliminated Forest and Mountains, due to their similarities with Rainforest and Caves. Rainforest was a much more vibrant and exciting option, while Caves allowed us to explore crystal formations.”
The Boar: How did you decide on the final order of the Realms?
Kira: “We spent a while rearranging the order of the realms. Originally, the realms were very ‘back and forth’ in their vibe, for example, Glacial would be followed by Volcanic. However, we wanted the show to develop and progress along with the explorer, therefore, we went from the generally lighter realms to the darker ones. This way, we could reflect this in our music too and progressively communicate the increasing darkness in the environment to the audience”.

As the show reached its grand finale, the models filed back onto the stage forming a striking final tableau. In a moment of well-earned celebration, the designers took to the runway, met with rapturous applause. An unforgettable conclusion to an evening of vision, artistry, and undeniable style with more to be celebrated and experienced in LINE’s VIP Afterparty showcasing the final realm, “Afterlife”.
