Research England initiative ranks Warwick in top 20% of English universities

Warwick has been ranked in the top 20% of English universities by the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) assessment.

Created by Research England, the KEF seeks to categorise universities into groups depending on their level of output, quality of research, and partnerships with other organisations. Industrial firms and other organisations can use the KEF assessment to connect them to academic knowledge and ground-breaking research.

Warwick was recognised alongside other leading research-intensive universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial College London.

For decades, we’ve collaborated closely with local businesses and industries, generating jobs, opportunities, and investment in the West Midlands

Warwick was praised for its strong links with communities, business, and its role in research partnerships. Going beyond just academic research, Warwick was ranked strongly for its ongoing ability to create and nurture deep links with business and local communities.

A key example of Warwick’s success was the University’s ties with Jaguar Land Rover, after the automobile firm signed up to a £100 million partnership with Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) in 2019.

Professor Stuart Croft, Vice-Chancellor of the University, commented: “For decades, we’ve collaborated closely with local businesses and industries, generating jobs, opportunities, and investment in the West Midlands, while establishing a world-class reputation for innovation.”

The announcement come as Medherant, a pharmaceutical company founded by Warwick Professor David Haddleton, announced a clinical trial of a testosterone replacement patch to help people experiencing menopause.
