Warwick claims 31st Varsity victory

On a bright and warm Sunday afternoon at Coventry University’s Westwood Heath, Warwick finally claimed another Varsity victory, after triumphing in the Women’s Hockey.

At times this year, it had looked as if things were going to get slightly hairy, as Coventry picked up wins in the basketball and men’s football, but once again, Warwick’s dominance showed and a 31st Varsity triumph became a formality.

Tradition dictated that everything kicked off with the equestrian event on Friday, and, although Warwick suffered in the individual events, in the team circuit, we came through to victory.

On Saturday, more resounding wins came in the Badminton, Swimming, and on the Squash court, while Warwick also proved its literal strength in the weightlifting.

On Sunday, we largely dominated, with high-scoring victories in the hockey and women’s football particularly, while in the men’s rugby we scrapped our way to yet another triumph.

After a year’s hiatus due to Covid-19, this is Warwick’s 31st victory in succession.

For more detailed reports on some of the major fixtures across the weekend, keep your eyes out for The Boar’s March edition, which will come out in a week’s time.
