University of Warwick keeps some mask requirements in place until end of Term 2

Changes to England’s legal restrictions means that face coverings are no longer required in shops and eating venues on the University of Warwick campus, as well as in the Arts Centre, or Sports and Wellness Hub.

Following the end of the government’s ‘Plan B’ restrictions which legally mandated face coverings in indoor spaces, the University has decided to keep its face covering guidelines for teaching, research, study, and exam spaces until the end of Term 2.

The library is among the spaces where the guidelines will remain in place, as well as offices and dwell spaces. However, social distancing will not be enforced.

In an email to students, the University said: “Our priority is for you to have the best learning experience possible, including being able to continue with face-to-face teaching, and so we think it’s sensible to take a cautious approach to minimise the risk of transmission and keep our community safe.

“We also want to ensure you can keep enjoying campus and life outside of your studies, including Warwick Presents, and other social and extracurricular events and opportunities.

As always, the safety and wellbeing of our community is paramount. We’ll continue to monitor the situation, taking into account the latest data and information, and will let you know if anything changes. In the meantime, you can stay up to date with news and find detailed safety guidance on the Stay Safe webpages.”
