Turning on the Bright Lights
Spirits old and new,
Local and foreign,
Ambling down the
Corridor of consumption –
Now breathing
With homespun shops –
Aiming to start
Another year’s end.
Attending a spectacle
That strives to sprinkle festive cheer,
Melting ice from conflicts
And the chilly atmosphere.
Vines of wonder thorned with awe:
Our surrogate stars
In this bustling night.
Their celestial shine
Inspires us to be
Choirs of merry voices,
As we witness the
Simple sublime.
We’re reminded what it
Means to be alive.
