Spring Evening in Leamington High St.
Buttery light glazes
The quaint, creamy buildings.
Joy defiantly rises from
The rubble of alarm:
Shops are brighter, homes are bolder,
The birds perched on scaffolding
Seem kinder. The once overbearing
Railway bridge, now sublime
Against Spring’s sunset.
Grimy trains that labour away
Are now sun-kissed locomotives.
Sky’s vigour revived –
Bravely extending its stay,
Setting is primed for gratitude
With cyan and cream in tune.
Future’s sorrow unlikely
When Nature’s life is plentiful.
Busy-bees may still speed away
And tempers may still flare,
But the streets will now carry
A refreshed, active air.
