BREAKING: Lewis Hamilton wins record-breaking 92nd Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton overtook Valtteri Bottas in the opening laps of the Portuguese Grand Prix to take a dominant victory in Portimao and surpass Michael Schumacher’s all-time Formula 1 win record.

The British driver dropped to third in the opening two laps of the race, falling behind McLaren’s Carlos Sainz and his teammate after drizzle derailed his attempts to storm out of the blocks. The six-time world champion fought back to reclaim the lead before coming into the pits, crushing Bottas’ hopes of getting an unlikely win after starting behind his teammate on the grid.

After passing Bottas on lap 20, Hamilton dominated proceedings, securing his 92nd grand prix victory in style. The Brit had drawn level with Schumacher’s record (91) at the Nürburgring a fortnight ago.

Hamilton now holds the record for most wins, podium finishes and pole positions in F1 history.
