Warwick staff member self-isolating after being in contact with coronavirus patient

A staff member at the University of Warwick is self-isolating after being in contact with a person who has been tested positive for Covid-19.

An email circulated within the Engineering department wrote: “The individual is now self-isolating, showing no symptoms.”

It directed recipients to 111 advice, adding that “due to their lack of symptoms, there is no need for anyone they have been in contact with to self-isolate”.

The University has been made aware of the situation and “there is no reason to be concerned”, the email said.

University guidance on the coronavirus outbreak can be found here: https://warwick.ac.uk/insite/news/intnews2/coronavirus/

The University of Warwick commented: “We have had a number of staff and students self isolate because of their travel patterns etc. All of them have followed Government advice on self isolation. None of them have exhibited any symptoms and none of them have tested positive for the virus.”

Updates will follow.
