Women’s Volleyball: Team Warwick prevent upset in nailbiting Varsity clash

The Women’s Volleyball team came out on top with a score of 3-2 against Coventry in the Varsity contest. In a game which looked at first as though it could be over in 3 sets, Coventry rallied to give Team Warwick a fright on Saturday afternoon. Despite the initial cause for concern, eventually the full five sets were played before Warwick managed to take home the victory.

The match opened at breath-taking pace, with Warwick quickly racing into a 2-0 set lead. However, any hopes that this would be a walk in the park were quickly dispelled when Coventry dominated both the third and fourth sets to level the tie. This ensured that if Warwick wanted the win, then they were going to have to show that extra bit of quality like they did in the first two sets.

It would’ve been very easy for heads to drop, as Coventry had the momentum, but forced on by the pulsating atmosphere created through a combination of the home crowd and one very loud drum, the ladies fought back to comfortably and ending up winning the set to ensure that the volleyball bragging rights belonged to Warwick.
