BUCS Wednesday: November 28

Warwick University Men’s 1st Team  Vs University of Worcester 2nd team

In a physical and  exciting back and forth game, Warwick Men’s first team emerged victorious over the Worcester 2nd team with a 72-60 win to secure their third victory of the campaign.

Warwick  came into the game in high spirits off the back of 76-69 win over Nottingham Trent 2nd team. Worcester made it an uncomfortable and awkward start however as they matched  Warwick’s strength and pace early on, keeping the gap close with Warwick leading 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second however,  Worcester showcased their skilful offense and talent as Warwick struggled to find cohesion in their play in the first half, falling behind 30-36 at the mid-way stage. Despite a frustrating second quarter, Warwick seemed to regain their poise and composure in offence  in the second half, with their play flowing much smoother and chances being converted in clinical fashion. Tom Edwards was particularly impressive in the Warwick recovery as they began to run away with the game in the third quarter, developing a healthy lead of 57-41 by its end. Through excellent tactical intelligence and a resolute defence, they consolidated this lead by the final buzzer as Warwick came away with an encouraging 72-60 win.

This win sees Warwick move to 2nd in the BUCS league table and they trail 1st place Leicester by 3 points while also holding a game in hand. They will look to build on this win and continue the team’s winning momentum  in their next fixture when they face Birmingham University 1st team.
