Fab Flapjacks

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, why not try Kate Preston’s deliciously simple recipe for homemade flapjacks? Packing plenty of crunch and fruity flavours, this tasty treat will be a definite hit with your flatmates.

Ingredients

• 400g porridge oats
• 75g butter
• 1 apple, grated
• 1 banana, mashed
• 175g honey
• 50g sugar
• 100ml boiling
 water

Method

• Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
• Grease a baking tray
• Melt butter in a saucepan.
• Add the grated apple, mashed banana, honey, sugar, water and simmer gently.
• Once this starts to boil, add your oats and remove from heat.
• Pour oat mixture onto the baking tray and flatten using the back of a metal teaspoon.
• Add any additional toppings (I drizzled extra honey on top at this point but you may wish to add your chosen toppings after your flapjacks have been baked).
• Bake flapjacks for approx. 25 mins, or until golden brown.
• Leave your flapjacks to sit until cool enough to touch and then chop into rectangles with a sharp knife.
