Parade bus stops to close for 12 days

Leamington Parade is due to be resurfaced from Sunday 16 to Friday 28 October. This will affect all buses going through Leamington, including the U1 and 11 buses.

During the entire resurfacing process all bus stops on the Parade will be out of order and buses will be rerouted via Guy Street – opposite Argos.

Warwickshire County Council have informed the public that delays may be expected as a result of the alternative routes being used.

The closure of the Parade will operate 24/7 throughout the entire resurfacing period. The bus stops by the Parish Church will remain open, as will those in South Leamington.

Warwickshire County Council will post updates on their homepage to minimise the disruption to residents and businesses in the area.

It is expected that all of the businesses and shops on the Parade will be open as normal and residents directly affected by these disruptions have already been informed.

This comes after frustration at the lack of student buses and irregular bus timings at the start of term.

Students at Warwick have been complaining about the inconvenience and timing of these planned road works. Charlotte Blakely, a final-year Civil Engineering student, asked: “Could this not have been done during the summer?”

Lucy Proud, a Master’s student living on the Upper Parade, said: “[It’s] not well advertised at all, I had no idea about it happening.”
