Rate-a-Conference E3 2016: Bethesda

Bethesda returned to E3 for their second-ever show this year. After the spectacle of last year’s showing, there were concerns as to whether they could keep their momentum going, and for the most part, they succeeded. Bethesda brought a slew of new game announcements to the show, which gave their conference some energy. The return of Quake is exciting, particularly after the success of Doom earlier this year; the Skyrim remaster is something that most fans have been clamouring for for a while, and the return of Prey certainly looked interesting, providing it actually manages to survive this time.

This was another good year for the company

Alongside these announcements came updates on Fallout 4 (with new DLC), Doom, Elder Scrolls Legends, and a hefty update on Dishonored 2. All of this meant that the conference, despite not having as big a hitter this year as they had last year, still came off a success. Bethesda seem to understand how to run a conference, and, aside from some pacing issues towards the end, this was another good year for the company.
Game of the Conference: Dishonored 2 (because Prey didn’t have any gameplay to warrant the award.)

Rating: 7.5/10
