Role Models Guide launched at Warwick
The University of Warwick has launched Role Models Guide: Celebrating LGBTUA+ at Warwick – a guide which shares the experiences of Warwick’s LGBTUA+ students, staff and alumni.

The guide was created by Ross Jaggers, a PhD student at Warwick. He comments: “By sharing the stories of some of the inspirational LGBTUA+ individuals of Warwick, we can show that diversity makes us stronger.”

Production of Hollywood blockbusters planned in Birmingham
Plans are being made to bring the production of Hollywood blockbusters to Birmingham. Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, has proposed building six film studios at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmigham.

These will incorporate special effects, post-production and animation companies. Mr Knight said: “It is a vibrant living city and once people get used to the idea of something like this in Birmingham, it will really go places.”

Aviva women’s cycle tour passes through Warwick
This Wednesday 16 June the Aviva Women’s Tour cycled through Warwick campus. The Warwickshire stage took place on day two of the race and was also the longest stage running for 140 kilometres.

Cyclists passed through the campus at approximately 11am. The stage ended in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Coventry City Council leader proposes building more council houses
In order to tackle the housing crisis, the new Coventry City Council leader George Duggins has proposed building more council houses.

Mr Duggins said that the lack of affordable housing has meant that too many young people rely on their parents for money for a house or choose to stay living at home.

Warwick Manufacturing Group awarded Regius Professorship in Manufacturing
Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) has been awarded the Regius Professorship in Manufacturing by the Queen, for its academic research in driving growth and improving productivity.

Professor Lord Bhattacharyya, Chairman and founder of WMG, said: “We are now internationally acclaimed and the largest centre for Manufacturing in the world. I am immensely delighted to have been granted this prestigious Regius Professorship in Manufacturing for WMG.”
