#VarsityOnesToWatch: Squash

What does Varsity mean to you?

Warwick Squash: Varsity is more than just a match to the Squash Club. It is the time to bring the whole club together and appreciate what it means to be a part of Team Warwick. Varsity never fails to supply a unique sense of team spirit across the University that is unparalleled with any other competition that BUCS has to offer. It is the chance to display what our team has to offer to the University, and to round off our season by celebrating (hopefully) our team’s success.

Which of your players should we keep an eye out for and why?

WS: Tom Hay. This year’s Varsity will be Tom’s first and last year representing the University. Tom has earned his place in the squad by showing great tenacity and WarwickSquash grit in his performances for the 2nd team this season. This being his last appearance for the University, Tom is set upon making it a performance to remember. We hope you will all be there to support him on our squash balconies!12191252_1105506726156216_5959042847968689960_o
In one sentence, why should people get behind Team Warwick and come and support you in Varsity?

WS: Our enthusiasm and exciting style of play never fails to please our supporters. With a perfect record in Varsity so far as we care to remember, we fully intend to celebrate another win, and what better way to do this than with the whole Team Warwick community?

Our enthusiasm and exciting style of play never fails to please our supporters.

Is this your biggest game of the year?

WS: Honestly, no. Our final BUCS fixture could potentially decide whether we get promoted into the Premier Division.

What is your favourite Varsity moment?

WS: In the 2015 Varsity, our 1st/2nd team dispatched of Coventry fairly comfortably 10-0. The electric atmosphere on the balconies was something that we hadn’t seen in the club for a long time. The thought of providing the University with a similar show makes the 2016 Varsity the highlight of our term!
