Spotify Sound Clash at Warwick

A national competition named Spotify Sound Clash allows teams to upload a 30-track playlist in hopes of winning a £10,000 prize.

The competition will also be personalised to Warwick University, with the winning team being able to hear their playlist at the Ricoh Arena near Coventry in a game between Wasps and Harlequins. The winning playlist will also be played at a University Warwick vs Coventry game.

The national prize includes £5,000 worth of ASOS gear which can include personalised sports kits. They will also receive £5,000 in cash.

Five runner-up teams will receive £1,000 worth of ASOS gear and £1,000 cash prize. The winners can also donate this prize money to a charity of their choice.

The first 200 societies that sign up nationwide will receive a free Spotify Premium account, and the top 50 teams will receive three months of Spotify Premium.

Each society can enter the competition by creating a unique playlist with more than 30 tracks on Spotify. It is recommended that each society personalises the playlist with songs that relate to what they stand for.

They then have to share the playlist to receive as many followers as possible before the 22nd of March.

Last year’s winners were Oxford Brookes Boat Club with 5,600 followers. Meanwhile, two years ago, Warwick Bass came in second place.

First-year English and French student Jennifer Barnard thinks that this is “a fun thing that society members can do together.

“If a society makes one together then they can play it when they meet up.”

This is the third year that Spotify Sound Clash is running.

Update: Warwick Rowing is currently in first place
