Missing cat found on campus
A lost cat was found near the Warwick University Library on the morning of Thursday 9 January; her owner is yet to reclaim her.
Sarah Anderson, a metadata librarian at Warwick University, and her colleagues discovered the cat after hearing it outside the ground floor of the library.
The female tortoise-shell feline was found between the main building and extension of the library.
The cat suffered a minor injury to her left ear.
Ms Anderson took the cat to Feldon Veterinary Centre in Kenilworth, who then transferred the adult feline to their Leamington branch.
“She looked lost and she didn’t have a collar or chip but definitely belonged to someone,” Ms Anderson told the Boar.
She added: “I tried calling RSPCA cats’ protection, but there was no answer.
“We also checked the Coventry Cats Facebook group but nobody had reported her missing.”
Ms Anderson and her colleagues also put up posters outside their office, at Cannon Park and at bus stops in the Canley area.
Feldon Veterinary Centre’s policy is to keep the cat for one week.
They are looking to find her a new home from Thursday 16 January.
Lorraine Bercis of Feldon Veterinary Centre told the Boar that they too have been searching for the cat’s original owner.
“We’ve been calling vets in Leamington and Coventry in case anyone has seen anything or reported her lost or missing.”
The cat is thought to be under four years of age and is reportedly very friendly.
Cats are not allowed to be kept as pets in university halls, so the owner is not thought to be a student living on campus.
UPDATE: The cat has now been found a home.
