The MaRaWthon returns

Radio Warwick (RaW) has announced that it will be hosting its annual charity event this term: ‘The MaRaWthon Strikes Back’ 100-hour broadcast.

The non-stop broadcast will take place in Week 5 between 12pm on Monday and 4pm on Friday. All RaW shows will be broadcasted live from the Piazza on central campus.

RaW’s charity broadcast last year raised more than £1,000 for the Coventry Cyrenians. This year they will be fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Amy Johnson, RaW station manager, expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s event. She told the Boar: “I’m incredibly excited about ‘The MaRaWthon Strikes Back’. It was a successful event for us last year, raising over £1,000 for the Coventry Cyrenians.

“All of our exec are very excited about running the event again and we’re confident about its success.

The 100-hour continuous broadcast will require some DJs to take on night shifts.

“Having done a night time shift myself last year (and one this year), I’m confident that our DJs will do a great job!

“It’s a tiring shift but something that you don’t forget easily. Some of my best memories of my second year come from my overnight stint at our first MaRaWthon.”

Students can make donations on RaW’s just giving page, which can be found here.
