Hidden Gem: The PUB, Prague

As home to the world-famous Pilsner and the most avid beer drinkers in the world, a visit to the Czech Republic would be incomplete without sampling some of the local brews.

A great place to try out Czech beer in Prague is at the creatively named PUB (which stands for Pilsner Unique Bar – it is actually creative!), just a stone’s throw from both the Charles Bridge and the Old Town Square, on Veleslavinova.

Each table is set up with a tap in the middle, so everyone is responsible for pulling their own pints rather than fighting through a queue at the bar. What’s more, tabs can be kept separately on the screen above the taps, which is ideal for those on a budget.

When there is no sport on, you can even test yourselves against your fellow beer-drinkers: proudly displayed on the big screen is the tab from each table, both in the bar itself and in the chain’s other branches throughout Europe.

Cheap, excellent beer, the quirk of pulling your own pint, and healthy competition: a fine way to start your night in the Czech capital!
