RAG undertake charity cycle

Five students from RAG are holding a non-stop-cycle for five days and five nights in the Piazza this week.

Sam Bonney, Martin Luk, Andy Conboy, Alex James and Adeel Haque started cycling on Sunday and are rotating shifts on a cycling machine so that when one person stops, another takes over.

The 120-hour cycle is in aid of the charity Practical Action.

The initiative is part of several “student adventures” run by the society such as skydiving for the Make A Wish Foundation, climbing Kilimajaro for Meningitus research, and cycling to Paris for Practical Action, which this non-stop cycle is raising money for.

On the Facebook group for the event, Adeel Haque revealed that 24 hours in he had received a £20 donation at midnight. Martin Luk left a comment thanking whoever had “donated a bottle of coke at four in the morning”.

President-elect of RAG, Andy King, told the Boar: “It’s a fantastic event and they’ve raised over £300 in one day. I couldn’t be happier with their efforts given how much they’ve done off their own backs.”

You can follow their progress on the University webcam, or donate online here.
