Yet another band to be tentatively and tiresomely championed “the saviours of guitar music”, **Palma Violets**’ garage-rock revivalist shtick appears – from catchy opener ‘Best Of Friends’ – to possess a tad more of the raw energy which is seemingly lacking in groups such as **The Vaccines**. But it’s the band’s refusal to diverge whatsoever from this boorish, scuzzy stomp that deflates any potential for an interesting take on the genre, rendering the album’s pervasive lyrical clichés all the more offensive.
