Serious assault on Radford Road

Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a violent assault against a man on Radford Road on Friday 18 January between 7:50pm and 8:00pm.

The man was assaulted by a group of three or more people with weapons including baseball bats.

A member of the public, who is believed to be a student at the University of Warwick, attempted to intervene but was threatened with a knife by one of the group.

After the incident the group made off towards the town centre.

Police Sub Inspector Russ Marsh, who is investigating the incident, stated:

“This is a serious assault where the victim has sustained quite a nasty injury which has required immediate surgery.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or has any information which would help us with our inquiries so that the offenders can be brought to justice.”

The Radford Road area is home to a large number of Warwick students.
