Warwick’s sport clubs get jiggy in the name of charity

Classical and Modern Dance (more commonly known as CMD) are holding their 3rd annual ‘Warwick Dance For Sport Relief’ in the Copper Rooms on the 30th November at 6.30pm.

This year 10 of Warwick’s leading Sport Clubs switch from pitch to stage in a bid to win votes from Warwick Students.

The evening consists of clubs putting on a dance performance choreographed by themselves in front of an audience of hundreds. Each performance is unique to each club with some choosing to use props from their own sport and some taking inspiration from music videos we all know and love. Sound a bit wacky? It is! But OH do they take it seriously. The competition is getting tougher and tougher and every single team want this to be their year.

Sport Relief is a fantastic charity due to it’s involvement in using Sport to improve emotional and physical wellbeing in individuals. The charity helps people living unbelievably tough lives both in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries. CMD raised £1343.68 last year and are looking to raise even more this year!

The event will star the following Warwick Sport teams: Athletics, Cricket, Lacrosse, Ladies Hockey, Men’s Football, Men’s Hockey, Rowing, Tennis, Warwick Snow, Women’s Football; and tickets are available from the SU website at £4 (including your entry to TopB).

“CMD do Sport Relief is unquestionably one of the most anticipated charity events on the Warwick Calendar. There is a great sense of unity among the competing team and the CMD girls work extremely hard to make the event a success. Can’t wait!”- Men’s Hockey

“Dance for Sport Relief was an exciting experience and a chance to have a laugh with your teammates!”- Tennis
