Leamington street party planned

**Old Town’s Portas Pilot Scheme is holding a festive event in Leamington Spa on 2 December.**

The Old Town Winter Festival will feature a variety of craft and food stalls, along with plenty of live music and street performers. It is hoped that the event will bring local businesses and residents together and attract more trade into the area.

The Portas Pilot scheme aims to have three large outdoor music events a year, regular specialist vintage and student markets in Old Town, as well as regular clean-up events.

Team leader, Jeremy Ireland urged more students to get involved, both with the event and with the project as a whole. He said: “We look forward to many more opportunities to work with students on the project.

“We are aiming to make Old Town the most successful it could ever be over the next few years and students are crucial to that success.”

Studends can get involved with the Winter Festival by performing, helping with promotional activities, or assisting with stewarding or clean-up tasks.

Leamington Old Town was one of 15 towns across England to receive £100,000 to rejuvinate the area. The scheme was spearheaded by the Government’s retail ‘Tsar’ and TV personality Mary Portas.
