Uni linked with RIKEN

The University has announced an association with the RIKEN Institute to support those affected by the 2011 Great East Japan earthquake.

Up to two researchers and two graduates will visit Warwick to collaborate on research projects to share academic expertise and enhance scientific research.

RIKEN has seven sites across Japan and around 3,000 researchers, and is especially strong in Natural Sciences.

The Institute also has similar agreements with Academia Sinica in Taiwan, the University of Strasbourg in France and the Max Planck Institutes in Germany.

RIKEN’s Executive Director, Professor Maki Kawai, said: “We are extremely grateful for the warm support and assistance that the University of Warwick offered to RIKEN’s researchers and students immediately after the tragic Great East Japan Earthquake.

“It is tremendously reassuring to know that we have such a staunch partner in the United Kingdom.”
