In a season where huge lashes rule, I’ve got to admit I often resort to falsies! But I wanted to know if there was a miracle mascara that could give the same effect, so I could finally say goodbye to all the faffing around with false eyelashes and that dreaded end of the night moment when you are left with only one lash still on! So I have gone in search of the ultimate mascaras, all on varying budgets, which aim to make your eyelashes your most valuable accessory. Want lashes that rock? Read below for all the tips, tricks and products that will help you to nail luscious lashes.

**1.Avon Super Magnify Mascara, Black (£12- Avonshop.co.uk). Score: 10**

**Claims: ** Makes lashes look magnified for maximum impact with no clumps, flakes or smudges.

**Result:** Fantastic definition. Separates lashes giving a full-eyed look. Also gives a great curl to lashes and is quick and easy to apply as it doesn’t need lots of coats to get a brilliant effect. It’s also thin, making it good for precision and getting into the corner of the eye – no lashes are missed. One coat gives you a clean, fresh natural look but you can also go for the glam look by applying extra coats. Great for lengthening lashes and giving a wide-eyed look. Absolutely no smudges or flakes.

**In a nutshell:** Absolutely fabulous product that is so versatile and can be used to achieve a natural or ultra-glam look.

**2.Max factor Masterpiece Max, Black (£10, Boots). Score: 8**

**Claims:** High volume and definition mascara that gives high volume that’s sleek and smooth.

**Result:** Easy application. Brilliant definition and curve to lashes that last all day. Also, makes eyelashes look incredibly thick and full. Slightly smudges and also causes slight irritation after a few hours.

**In a nutshell:** Fantastic for definition AND thickness.

**3. Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara, Black (Now £6 (save £2) – Boots). Score: 7**

**Claims:** Patented Spoon brush and Kera-fiber formula instantly build 8 times more volume without clumping. Unique flexible wand helps to lift and separate lashes to provide the look of 300% more lashes.

**Result:** The curved brush makes it extremely easy to get amazingly curly lashes that last all day and to get right to the tips of the lashes. However, the brush isn’t thick enough and doesn’t separate lashes very well, so a full thick look isn’t achieved. But there are no smudges or residue left at the end of the day.

**In a nutshell: ** Great for amazingly curly lashes that stay that way all day.

**Top Mascara Tips:**

1. Apply the first coat of mascara and then put baby or face powder along the lashes before the mascara dries. Allow to dry then apply a second coat of mascara on top. Result: thicker and longer looking lashes in an instant!
2. Wiggle the wand left to right at the base of lashes (and as you pull up) – it’s the mascara placed near the roots, not the tips, that gives the illusion of length.
3. Apply a bit of mascara onto the top side of your lashes first then apply as normal from underneath. This ensures full coverage and intensifies the colour.
4. When applying mascara onto the lower lashes place a spoon below them to stop under eye smudges.
