Warwick Student for STA World Traveller

When people ask you “what’s your dream job?” how do you respond? Successful lawyer? Doctor? Author? All fairly impressive, but perfectly reasonable jobs to aspire to. “No!” They say. “If you could do anything in the world?” Erm…Supermodel? Chocolate taster? Although for obvious reasons you’d have to make a choice between the two…

Some jobs however, are so good to be true that you daren’t even dream about them. But one of your fellow Warwickers did.

In January STA Travel launched the first UK-wide search for their 2010 World Traveller Intern. They will be sending two jammy so and so’s around the world this summer – all expenses paid – in exchange for exquisite photos, entertaining video reports and inspiring blogs. A nifty little marketing scheme for STA Travel, a once in a lifetime opportunity for Emma Sparks.

You may have been approached by a slightly frantic looking brunette in the library asking you to watch her application video and vote for her, join her facebook group “Sparky for STA Intern”, or have seen her flyers and posters around campus. Well this girl has made it to the final stage of the search and needs YOU to help her out.

A final year English and French student, you may have seen Sparky shake her stuff with the infamous EQHO at Ignis, the new union launch, World Party and Busta Move! as well as the annual dance show Pizazz. She spent her year abroad teaching (and dancing) in Paris, which only served to increase her ridiculously zealous enthusiasm for travel.

Get this girl talking about travel and she will not shut up. That said, she is determined never to resemble the dude from the ‘gap yah’ video currently sweeping the student population…(if you haven’t seen it yet, check it out on youtube – hilarity will ensue).

She isn’t going to travel the world to tick all the boxes on her “to do” list. She has a genuine passion for making the most of our planet, meeting like-minded people and grabbing life by the metaphorical balls.

By now you’ve probably seen the brand spanking new STA Travel snuggled next to Curiositea in the atrium. Emma’s advice to you: Check it out. The folks at STA know what they’re talking about. The itinerary for the World Traveller Intern trip is unbelievable, so if you are thinking about taking a gap year after uni, or an exotic summer break, then look no further; Emma’s videos are sure to give you some ideas. Starting in Thailand, the two interns will travel through Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, to Miami, all in the name of ‘research’.

You can find out more about the competition on her blog and STA homepage – and if you want to see what else Emma could get up to, don’t forget to vote!
