Butterworth Hall re-opens doors

Butterworth Hall re-opened its doors after a one year redevelopment on 7 October for a Gala Opening Concert.

The £7.9 million project has changed the face of Butterworth Hall as well as making numerous improvements in the interior.

These include making the space more accessible to those with disabilities. Backstage changes have been made too with better dressing rooms and improved rehearsal space.

One of the most important new features, especially to Butterworth Hall’s concert goers, is the improved acoustics.

The Gala Opening Concert featured the Philharmonia Orchestra, one of the many big names set to come to Warwick Arts Centre this year.

Students’ reactions have been mixed with some complimenting the new façade and others wondering if the redevelopment was needed at all.

Exams will be held in the building this year as well, though thankfully without the noise of construction work that many students complained about last year.

The Warwick Arts Centre is a highly regarded cultural centre in , the Midlands, and the second largest of its kind outside London.
