BREAKING: Skool Dayz will NOT be going ahead in the academic year 2026/7

After the number of complaints from students about the bi-termly Skool Dayz event has reached a record high, the Students’ Union has decided to run its final Skool Dayz in Week 7 of Term 3.

In a version of the SU website, the Skool Dayz description explicitly asks students to “cram themselves back into that old school uniform for a night of naughty nostalgia”.

Whilst the SU has stopped it being mandatory to wear school uniform at Skool Dayz, that has not stopped attendees

Such phrasing has raised eyebrows amongst the student population. “Sue me, but I’m uncomfortable with the sexualisation of minors”, one anonymous Warwick student told The Boar. “Skool Dayz is just creepy as a concept.”

The student revealed to The Boar that they, among others, had complained to the SU about the event.

The SU has moved away from encouraging school uniform-wearing following last year’s complaints. “Put on your Vans, grab your sunglasses, dig out your old favourite skinny jeans and crop top” is what the main event page reads currently.

Whilst the SU has stopped it being mandatory to wear school uniform at Skool Dayz, that has not stopped attendees. One Warwick student reported being labelled worst-dressed in their circle because they wore a white t-shirt rather than a button-up.

“If I went to Skool Dayz circle in skinny jeans and a crop top, my social sec would (redacted) me”, the student shared.

There will still be two Skool Dayz events in Term 3 running as normal, but moving into next academic year, the event will be discontinued

SU spokesperson

As a result of the inability to separate Skool Dayz from the uniform, the SU released an official statement to The Boar detailing the cancellation of the event:

“We understand that many students are uncomfortable with Skool Dayz as a concept. Whilst we appreciate that not everyone has an issue with the event, we are, as a Union, stepping back from Skool Dayz.

“There will still be two Skool Dayz events in Term 3 running as normal, but moving into next academic year, the event will be discontinued.”

However, The Boar has received reports about a replacement event for Skool Dayz. A source close to The Boar claims to have been part of a focus group led by the VP for Sports, where the most popular idea of the session was an event named Out of Office.

Our source shared that Out of Office, if it goes ahead, aims to be more age-inclusive and reportedly will take place twice a term on Thursdays, which are “the new Fridays”.

It seems there was mixed feedback regarding this replacement event. One student said: “I don’t want to work in an office. This event would not represent me.”

The SU has chosen not to comment on these rumours.

If you or anyone you know has taken part in one of these focus groups, The Boar implores you to get in contact via our email address, aprilfools@theboar.org.
