SAG Actor Awards 2026

The Actor Awards celebrate the best achievements in film and television performances. Hosted at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California, this year marked the 32nd year. If the name sounds unfamiliar, the SAG Awards might ring a bell. The name was changed to better reflect the name of their iconic trophy, ‘The Actor’. For the third year in a row, the ceremony was livestreamed on Netflix on the 1st of March, making it more accessible for viewers to watch all around the world. Expectations were high for One Battle After Another, Sinners, The Studio, and The Pitt. But what actually came away with the awards? Keep reading to find out!

The casting director, Nina Gold, also deserves praise for assembling such a dynamic cast whose strong on-screen chemistry ultimately enhances the global reputation of British cinema

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture was won by Sinners. Facing tough competition with stellar performances in Hamnet and One Battle After Another as well as others, Sinners stood out with performances from actors such as Miles Caton. Sinners was Caton’s acting debut, being just eighteen years old when he auditioned for the role and nineteen when he filmed it! Michael B Jordan’s dual performance shocked audiences by playing the roles of ‘Stack’ and ‘Smoke’. His ability to create two distinct and detailed characters made the performance more compelling to watch. Unsurprisingly, he was awarded ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role’.

Whilst the win of Sinners is very much deserved, one must not forget the breakthrough talent in Hamnet. Jacobi Jupe, who plays the title role of ‘Hamnet’, is definitely a name to remember. Delivering such a powerful performance at only twelve years old, he already hints at the remarkable potential he has for the future. His older brother, Noah Jupe, who also featured in the movie as ‘Hamlet’, delivered an extraordinary performance towards the end of the film. It is safe to say the acting genes run in the family, being the children of actor Katy Cavanagh and filmmaker Chris Jupe. Other young talents in the film include Olivia Lynes and Bodhi Rae Breathnach, who play Judith and Susanna, respectively. The casting director, Nina Gold, also deserves praise for assembling such a dynamic cast whose strong on-screen chemistry ultimately enhances the global reputation of British cinema. In total, Hamnet was nominated for three awards at the 2026 Actor Awards, but only Jessie Buckley was able to bring home an award for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role’.

Apart from the announcement of the awards, everyone loves to see what all the actors wear! For the first time, the event came with a dress code: Reimagining Hollywood Glamour from the ’20s and ’30s. My personal favourite is Mia Goth, who wore Dior. Designed by Jonathan Anderson, her dress hints at elements of Frankenstein while incorporating elements of the ’20s and ’30s, particularly through the low-cut back. Jessie Buckley in Balenciaga, Dove Cameron in Monique Lhuillier and Chase Sui Wonders in Miss Sohee also made the top of my list. Regarding the male actors, Timothée Chalamet in Prada, Connor Storrie and Paul Mescal in Saint Laurent honoured the theme well.

While some stars nailed the theme, others have been noticed for the wrong reasons. For example, Ted Sarandos’ high-low look did not quite work for some people. Sarandos walked the red carpet in a velvet blue tuxedo jacket, white shirt and a black bow tie. This sounds alright until I mention the fact that he wore bootcut blue jeans to complete the look. Let’s just say I’m not sure Hollywood actors in the ’20s and ’30s would be wearing jeans to the red carpet.

Regardless of your own fashion taste, the evening showcased some really precious moments. From Seth Rogen’s moving tribute to Catherine O’Hara to Harrison Ford receiving his SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, ceremonies like the Actor Awards stand as a celebration of film and television. They serve as a reminder of the dedication, craft and countless hours poured in by cast and crew to bring stories to life for audiences all over the world.
