Warwickshire Pride receives £12.5k boost from national charity fund

Warwickshire Pride, a charity which supports the local LGBTQIA+ community, has received a funding boost of £12,500 from a national charity fund.

The Warwickshire-based charity was one of only five small organisations to receive support from the £70,000 donation fund awarded by CharityJob, the largest job board for the charity sector in the UK.

It was selected alongside Cradle Charity, which supports individuals following the death of a baby during pregnancy, as well as Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care, The Separated Child Foundation, and the Dragonfly Cancer Trust.

CharityJob’s donation fund recognises and supports local organisations which make a difference within their communities.

Over 1,000 small-scale charities from across the UK – those with fewer than 50 employers and an income of under £1 million – applied for the fund.

Being chosen is testament to the work of Warwickshire Pride and the fantastic team of trustees, staff, and volunteers who keep everything running for the benefit of LGBTQIA+ people across Warwickshire

The funding boost will be used by Warwickshire Pride to support LGBTQIA+ individuals both seeking asylum and going through the asylum process in Warwickshire.

The donation will also be used help run and maintain the valuable services and social events that they offer, such as Proud Youth and Proud Parents.

Daniel Browne, Warwickshire Pride’s Chair, said that the donation was “a big surprise”, and that it will allow the charity to continue to provide an inclusive, accessible, and safe space for LGBTQIA+ individuals to connect and interact.

Browne added: “Being chosen is testament to the work of Warwickshire Pride and the fantastic team of trustees, staff, and volunteers who keep everything running for the benefit of LGBTQIA+ people across Warwickshire.”

Warwickshire Pride was founded in 2011, and offers many essential services for LGBTQIA+ individuals, such as counselling, financial advice, and social events across Warwickshire, in areas such as Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, and Nuneaton.

Charities across the UK are currently facing serious economic hardship, with the increased cost of living, higher national insurance payments, and the context of wider global instability all contributing to a decline in public donations

The charity is also responsible for organising the annual pride festival in Warwickshire, which is held every August in Leamington Spa.

Charities across the UK are currently facing serious economic hardship, with the increased cost of living, higher national insurance payments, and the context of wider global instability all contributing to a decline in public donations.

Small charities are more likely to overspend, often as a result of higher operating costs, declining income, and increased demand.

It is hoped that this funding boost will allow Warwickshire Pride to offer vital services to the LGBTQIA+ community, with a reduced financial burden on the charity.
